Polish rider from Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto, Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney, claimed the silver medal in the European road race. On Saturday, the Pole delivered a brilliant performance on a demanding course, reaching the podium of the elite continental championships for the third time in her career.
Saturday’s event featured the women’s elite road race, covering a hilly 116-kilometre route. The Polish national team lined up with eight riders, including Dominika Włodarczyk and Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney.
The race unfolded under the control of the Dutch team, who split the peloton and forced a selection of the strongest riders. Demi Vollering broke away from her rivals and took the European champion’s title. In the chase group, it was mainly Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney who set the pace.
In the end, the Pole finished in 2nd place, earning her third career medal in the European road race championships. The podium was completed by another Dutch rider, Anna van der Breggen.
