Italian rider Chiara Consonni from Canyon//SRAM, who dominated last year’s Tour de Pologne, has been included in the preliminary roster of the UCI Women’s WorldTeam for the upcoming edition of the race. A year ago, Consonni was by far the best, winning the ORLEN General Classification as well as two stages!
The women’s Tour de Pologne Women race will once again attract the top of the women’s peloton to the starting line. The preliminary start list already included riders such as Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx-Protime), and Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek).
Now, Chiara Consonni has joined this group, with her name appearing in the latest Canyon//SRAM roster for the Polish race. Fans may perfectly remember the Italian from last year’s edition of the competition – at that time, she claimed two stage victories in Zamość and Kraśnik. Thanks to her strong performance over the three days of racing, Consonni won the yellow jersey of the ORLEN General Classification winner.
This year, she is set to come to Poland again to fight for a repeat of her success from the previous edition – this time at the UCI ProSeries level, to which the 4th Tour de Pologne Women has advanced.
The starting line of the race will feature, among others, 8 teams with a UCI Women’s WorldTour license, as well as the Polish national team and the only domestic continental team – MAT ATOM Deweloper Wrocław. The competition will take place from July 24-26 on a picturesque route in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The race will begin in Tomaszów Lubelski and will conclude on Sunday in the region’s capital – Lublin.
The competition will be broadcast on TVP and on the HBO Max streaming platform, thereby reaching fans in 65 countries.
