It’s time to start! On Friday, July 24, the highly anticipated by fans 4th Tour de Pologne Women will begin. The race will be held entirely on the roads of the Lublin Voivodeship, and the competition will last until Sunday. The first stage will take place on the route from Tomaszów Lubelski to Zamość, where 19 teams, including 8 UCI Women’s WorldTeam squads and the Polish national team, will fight for the victory.
Women’s cycling at the highest level has returned to Poland. From Friday to Sunday, competitors from all over the world will compete in the 4th Tour de Pologne Women, which starts on July 24. The event advanced this year to the ranks of UCI ProSeries races, and the higher category is reflected in the start list – top teams from around the world have arrived in Poland, including a total of 8 UCI Women’s WorldTeam squads featuring major stars.
The cyclists from the best teams will begin their struggles in the 4th Tour de Pologne Women with a stage from Tomaszów Lubelski to Zamość, contested on a 138-kilometer route full of short climbs. After 16 kilometers, the riders will sprint at the LOTTO Sprint Prime in Krasnobród, from where they will head towards the picturesque Zwierzyniec Commune, passing by the nearby Roztocze National Park, known for its nature, which is unique on a Polish scale.
Next, the peloton will ride through Szczebrzeszyn, among other places, where the second LOTTO Sprint Prime is located. After this, the cyclists will head towards Zamość. In the Polish “pearl of the Renaissance”, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the finish will be contested, and the riders should be expected at the finish line on Piłsudskiego Street around 4:30 PM.
In Zamość, we will get to know the first LOTTO Winner of the Stage, as well as the leaders of the ORLEN General Classification and the LOTTO Most Active Rider Classification.
– We are starting from Tomaszów Lubelski to Zamość, along a beautiful route in the Lublin Voivodeship. The route will be hilly, so if strong teams decide to set the pace, the first time gaps may appear here. We don’t have the Alps or the Pyrenees here, but it’s the riders who make the race, and if someone wants to attack, they will find a place to accelerate and try to fight to create time differences. The field of the race is very strong, strong competitors have arrived, and there has not been such a line-up so far. Each of the cyclists is focused on racing, and the teams value the organization and setting of the race. Everything is at the level of the men’s Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour – commented Czesław Lang, General Director of the 4th Tour de Pologne Women.
The start list is full of cycling stars. The main contenders for victory will be dynamic riders, and there will be no shortage of those at the start of the race. Among the favorites are Lorena Wiebes and Lotte Kopecky from Team SD Worx-Protime, who belong to the absolute world elite. The former Polish champion, Marta Lach, is also racing for the Dutch team.
In the event of a group finish, riders such as Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek), last year’s winner of the ORLEN General Classification Chiara Consonni (Canyon//SRAM), Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ), or Maggie Coles-Lyster (Human Powered Health) can also count on a victory. Each of the competitors will start today’s stage with a clean slate, which is why a top-level sporting spectacle can be expected!
The 4th Tour de Pologne Women – just like previous editions – will promote the beautiful corners of Poland and the Lubelskie Voivodeship through the broadcast produced by TVP, which viewers will be able to watch on the TVP Sport and TVP 1 channels. The race will also be available on the HBO Max streaming platform, and a replay of the competition will be shown on Eurosport 1, thus reaching fans from 65 countries.
