The Polish National Road Cycling Championships took place from June 25 to 29 in Dobczyce, Lesser Poland. Among the events were both the women’s elite individual time trial and road race. The competitions were dominated by Katarzyna Niewiadoma and Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka of Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto, who claimed two national champion jerseys.
This year’s championship races were held in the town of Dobczyce, near Kraków, on hilly, Beskid roads, while the time trial took place on flatter terrain in Szczyrzyc.
The women’s elite competition was enhanced by the presence of top Polish riders from UCI Women’s WorldTeams, who battled fiercely for medals. On Thursday, the riders took on a 26-kilometre individual time trial, where Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka (Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto) proved strongest, winning the Polish title in this discipline for the third time. She finished 9 seconds ahead of her teammate, while last year’s winner, Marta Jaskulska of CERATIZIT Pro Cycling Team, took third place.
Saturday’s road race was also dominated by the Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto riders. They used their climbing skills to break away early alongside Dominika Włodarczyk of UAE Team ADQ. As the kilometers wore on, fatigue mounted, but it was Katarzyna Niewiadoma who handled the demanding course best, crossing the finish line with a substantial lead. The podium was completed by Dominika Włodarczyk and Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka.
The teams of the medalists from the road race – Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto and UAE Team ADQ – will line up for this year’s Tour de Pologne Women, promising great excitement. The women’s race will take place from August 12 to 14 and will feature top international teams. Alongside the mentioned squads, teams like Human Powered Health, Lidl-Trek, Uno-X Mobility, FDJ-SUEZ, and AG Insurance – Soudal will also take part.
An exciting battle is ahead, with Polish riders among the contenders. Besides athletes from UCI Women’s WorldTeams, the national team will be at the start line, as well as TKK Pacific Nestle Fitness and MAT ATOM Deweloper Wroclaw – the only women’s UCI-registered team based in Poland.
